If you want to save time, streamline idea management, and assign specialists to the Ideas submitted to your Challenge, you can set up the automatic assignment of Idea Managers.
Who can do this? Platform site Admins, Community Admins for assigned communities, and Challenge Managers for assigned Challenges.
Turn on automatic assignment of Idea Managers

Go to your Challenge.

Select Manage > Edit Challenge.

On the Extras tab, click the
Plus and select Idea Managers.
- Toggle on Enable Idea Managers

Turn on the Automatically assign Idea Managers toggle.
- Decide if you wish to Allow Idea Creators to be Idea Managers for their own Ideas
- Select the stage of the challenge at which Idea Managers should be assigned to ideas.
Once you've turned on the automatic assignment of Idea Managers, you'll need to choose how Idea Managers should be assigned.
Note: If you can’t see this option, you will need to turn on Idea Managers for Ideas. Only 1 Idea Manager will be assigned to each Idea, and if an Idea already has an Idea Manager the assignment won't happen.
Assign Idea Managers by Challenge

Under Assign by, select Challenge.

Under Idea Managers, enter a user or group name and select them from the list.

(Optional) Under Personalised message, enter a message your Idea Managers will see when they're assigned to an Idea.

Click Save.
Assign Idea Managers by Category

Under Assign by, select Category.

Click Invite Idea Managers next to a category or sub-category.

Enter a user or group name and select them from the list.

Click Submit.

(Optional) Under Personalised message, enter a message your Idea Managers will see when they're assigned to an Idea.

Click Save.
When an Idea reaches the assignment stage, an Idea Manager will be chosen from the category list and assigned to the Idea that matches their Category.
Assign Idea Managers by Creator’s profile field
To use this option you will need a dropdown or multiple choice field on your user profile form.
- Under Assign by, select Creator’s profile field.
- For Profile field, select which profile field should be used for the assignment
- Under Idea Managers, click Invite Idea Managers next to each profile field value.
- Enter a user or group name and select them from the list.
- Click Submit.
- (Optional) Under Personalised message, enter a message your Idea Managers will see when they're assigned to an Idea.
- Click Save.
When an Idea reaches the assignment stage, an Idea Manager will be assigned to the Idea if the Idea Creator’s profile field matches the profile field assigned to the Idea Manager.
How to disable Idea Managers on a challenge
If you change your mind and no longer wish to use Idea Managers on a challenge you can disable them by toggling off Enable Idea Mangers in the Extras tab of the challenge.
Tip: You can manually add Idea Managers to specific Ideas by managing Idea Managers on an Idea. You can also change the assignment stage at any time, even if you have existing Ideas.
