We have enhanced the existing Move functionality to provide a clear delineation between moving and copying ideas between Challenges. With the introduction of these enhancements:
- Moved Ideas will be moved to the new Challenge and will no longer be associated with the original Challenge, including the idea count stats; the moved idea will retain the original idea ID for continuity.
Note: all existing moved ideas will be removed from existing Challenges, updating the existing Challenge and site stats, so you may see a reduction in the number of ideas in your Challenge and Dashboard stats.
- Copied Ideas will generate a new idea in the new Challenge, with a separate idea ID and will be progressed independently of the original idea which remains in the original Challenge.
Providing two distinct actions will give you more flexibility when managing your ideas and sharing the content between Challenges. For example:
- Move ideas when the idea has been submitted to the wrong Challenge and/or you need to develop it using a different workflow or process. By moving the idea, you ensure that the idea is managed and progressed through a single, consistent workflow.
- Copy ideas when you want to celebrate success (i.e. copy winning ideas to your annual Awards Challenge or your Celebrate Success Challenge) without affecting the progress of the original idea or if you want to develop an idea separately in different communities (i.e. copy a customer-generated idea to an internal Challenge for independent development while still gathering feedback from customers in an external Challenge.
In addition, when moving or copying ideas, Challenge Managers will now be able to map the fields between idea forms rather than generating a PDF if the forms do not match. Once you map between two Challenges (i.e. Challenge A to Challenge B), you can save the mapping for future use.
To provide maximum flexibility, the Move and Copy functionality are available behind separate feature flags to allow you to elect to turn each option on/off independently. Both flags will be turned on by default, but if you would like to change your configuration, please contact email@example.com.
